Expensive Day Thursday

Dear Ones (special note to Shawn, Kris & family) What a day you're in for. It must be an incredible experience to see all those sights.

Thursday's story :) the Dick & Joan on the road again saga...We left Al & Susans about 8:30 in the morning after saying goodby to these dear friends. We don't see them very often and we so enjoy being with them.

We thought there would be a dump station at a Rest Area along Highway 10 in the Panhandle of FL. (about 40 miles) We pulled in there, no dump station, but our truck was doing a dump of it's own. When we walked around the truck, it was dumping green anti-freeze on the ground. This trucker walked over after seeing Dick down on his hands and knees trying to see under the truck, and suggested we had a leakin the hose. He knew of a service station, but didn't know of a Ford Dealer.

Unfortunatly, Garman didn't list a Ford Dealer either. So we drove another 8 miles to Marianne FL, stopped at a Toyota dealer to ask for a Ford dealer. The dealer said yes he could help us in 2-4 hours and told us to park across the street behind a Wendy's restaurant. So he has the truck, the 3 of us are sitting in our lawn chairs on the cement parking lot waiting :) Daisy, of course, is growling and barking at everyone who goes by. Finally, they call to say it's not a hose (of course not), the radiator core went bad. Sooo, 4 hours later and $800 poorer, we started to pack up. But, oh no, the story doesn't end there...the Marianne Security Guard drives up in this car and said someone reported that a family was "living" in their camper in the parking lot. Once we told him the story, he had a good laugh over it.

The saga continues...but we're having a great time and are so glad we made the trip.

It''s Wednesday 75 degrees...Dad is working on a roof

Hi all

Well this is Wednesday and our "children" and grandchild are in the air to China. It doesn't seem real that it's finally happening for them. Can't wait to hear from them!

Now the unusual headline...no it's not our roof, it the roof of a friend of Al & Susan's. He has built a sun room and the roof wasn't completed. Sooo, there are 3 guys 60 years and older up on the roof on a 75 degree day. It's now 1:30 FL time, they thought they'd be done by noon.

But, your good hearted dad andAl, decided to stick with the guy until it's protected.

Now for the other adventure. We had been here about 30 minutes, talking with Al & Sue and Dick decided to go ahead and turn the unit around before we set it up because the road is really narrow and he wanted to do it when there was no traffic. They decided Al's driveway was too close and too steep to do the job, so the plan was to back up to the neighbors drive way (less steep) and turn around there.

Good plan unh? Only one problem, Al's mailbox was directly behind the 5th wheel and was not visible to the truck. Al saw what was going to happen and begin to yell at Dick, but, alas, he was not heard. The mailbox crumbled and Dick was not even aware until Al and I ran up to the side of the truck. Now, Brad, you'll love this part...First question from Dick was, Is the bike rack OK? (it is, by the way)

Thus we have left an impression on our dear friends. We will of course pay for the replacement box.

Tomorrow, Thursday, we head for Homassa Springs on the GulfCoast..stay there on night then on to Avon Park.

No luck fishing, but fun anyway

Hi all...today, Sunday, is the last day at the beautifu spot. We always hate to leave here, but, alas, new adventures await us. We finally got to do a little fishing. The waves have been so high and the breeze too chilly to fish up until today...but no luck anyhow.

Miss Daisy had to stay on here leash thus she looks a little ticked off in the sideway picture. If anyone know what I need to do to turn the photos before I insert them, I'd appreciate the help :)

Keep Shawn, Kris, Kaycee and Kya in your prayers this week as they leave on Wednesday to pick up their daughter. Our hearts are with them for this incredible opportunity, Kya is a lucky little girl to belong to these loving parents.

More later...J

Eufala, Alabama

We are definitly in the South. I love the accents of the people down here...plus they are very friendly. We are camped here at White Oak Park which was created by the Army Corp of Engineers...Salute to engineers and the great job they did. We're surrounded by water views of a beautiful reservour that runs along the Alabama/Georgia line about half way down the state.
We're hanging out here until Monday a.m. then heading to Bonifay Fla in the panhandle to see Allen & Susan Woolsey.

Miss Daisy is doing very well, except when we stop at rest areas along the express way and the semi's pull up beside us and set their air brakes. She jumps back behind one of us and shivers. Brave Dog unh?

We are so appreciating the Elias' & Greenlee blogs...makes us feel connected

Florida Bound

The adventure begins...last night we left home about 7:00 p.m., stopped at a campground outside Indianapolis in 22 degree weather. No problem, we didn't load water into our RV and we've toughed out cold weather before.

But alas, we get the the camp site and found our furnace wasn't working. We had a little problem with it before we left, but Mark gave us an idea and it worked. But getting to the campsite the inside of the windows frosted, the furnace wouldn't start. Sooo, my wonderful husband went outside and tried to figure out what was wrong, in utter frustration he hit the unit with the side of his fist and the furnace started. Who said, it doesn't pay to get ticked off :)

Then, Miss Daisy, who has slept in our "wire home" every since we got her, decided that last night she did not like her new digs and wanted to be in the same room we were in. We're snuggled under the covers, until 3 x for me and 3 x for Dick got up to "correct" the whining, complaining and out and out barking. This is the dog that never barks.

As you might have guessed, she won, we let her out of her "home" and she slept on the rug next to our bed. Now, all of you that know that dogs have not been my favorite animal over the years, have seen a total metamorphisis (sp??) over my relationship with this pup. What can I say?

Love to you all, watch for further on the road again stories

On the road again
Hello family...well Gramps and I will be on the road (barring any unforseen circumstances) next Wednesday the 25th. About 3 weeks later than we wanted to be, but the weather in FLA has been pretty crummy, so it was good to just be here.
Miss Daisy is about to experience her first "long day in the truck". She is such a good traveler, I don't expect to have any problems with her. The photo attached (if I can get it to work) is Miss Daisy staring out the window on a snowy day....we think she was saying..."when did you say we were leaving?"
I will attempt to keep the blog updated with "our traveloge" and photos.
